About MEconomy

MEconomy is an independent Swiss comparison site for what a household pays. Offers are sorted by what they cost you. No provider pays for a place in a ranking. Each price is taken from the provider’s own page or from an official source, and a price we could not confirm says so.

What we compare

Mobile and internet plans, official premiums and tariffs, rates, and the household costs around them. Each name below opens its page.

How we check prices

Each price on MEconomy is taken from the provider’s own page or from an official publication. This is what happens to it, in order. It does not catch every mistake: if you see a wrong price, write to hello@meconomy.ch and we correct it.

  1. A price comes from the provider’s own page or an official source.

Our bot, MEconomyBot, reads the public plan pages of the providers it is set up for: mobile every night; home internet, TV and phone every night, so far for some providers; mortgage and pillar 3a rates every working day; bank, card and subscription prices every week. Health insurance premiums, electricity tariffs and fuel and heating oil prices come from the official data of the Federal Office of Public Health, ElCom and the Federal Statistical Office. The other providers’ prices are kept by hand from their pages. A mobile, internet, TV or phone price that no reading has confirmed says “Price not confirmed yet”.

  2. Every reading is dated.

A mobile, internet, TV or phone plan shows the day its price was last confirmed on the provider’s page, for example “Price checked 18.10.2026”.

  3. A second check comes before anything is published.

For mobile, internet, TV and phone plans and for bank accounts and credit cards, each price must appear as a number in the text of the page it was read from. A second reader, an AI model that sees only the page text and the plan names, then states each plan’s price on its own. If the two disagree, if a price has moved by more than 30%, or if the page lists fewer than half the plans we had, nothing new is published for that provider until a person has looked. Its last confirmed prices stay, with their own date.

  4. A plan stays only while the provider’s page lists it.

For mobile, internet, TV and phone plans, one missed reading does not remove a plan. When two separate readings, at least 12 hours apart, both fail to find it, it comes off the site.

  5. A price we could not confirm never counts as the best.

A price not confirmed on the provider’s page for more than seven days stays visible as “Not confirmed since” and its date. It is listed after the confirmed ones and never counts as the cheapest, in a headline figure or in a best-of list. This holds for mobile plans and for internet, TV and phone.

  6. History is kept.

Every price we read is kept. A new price is added as a new entry, and the database refuses to change or delete an earlier one. On the mobile page, a plan’s price history shows only the nights we really read its price.

The bot and its rules are described under our price bot.

Our price bot: MEconomyBot

Requests from MEconomyBot/1.0 (+https://meconomy.ch/about) come from us. This is the reader that reads the prices we publish. It reads the public plan and price pages of Swiss providers so that their current prices appear correctly here.

  • It sends the name above with every request.
  • It follows each site’s robots.txt. A page it may not read, it does not read.
  • It reads a provider’s pages about once a day or less often, and waits at least two seconds between its requests for pages on the same site. If a price could not be confirmed, a backup run reads that provider again a few hours later.
  • If a site blocks it, it stops and does not try another identity. The next step is to ask the provider to allow it or to send us a price feed.
  • It collects prices and plan terms only: no personal data, no accounts, no content behind a login.

An older check still runs each night with the identity of an ordinary browser and does not check robots.txt. It only tests whether a hand-kept price is still on the provider’s page. It publishes no price and sets no “Price checked” date; it can only clear one. For some providers it goes through a proxy or a scraping service. Whether to retire it is still to be decided.

Providers who prefer to send us a price feed, or who want the bot to read less or not at all, can write to hello@meconomy.ch.

No paid rankings

MEconomy is not owned by, affiliated with, or sponsored by any telecommunications provider, insurance company or financial institution.

Today MEconomy has no affiliate agreements and earns nothing when you click through to a provider. Links on the comparison pages go straight to the provider’s own page.Preis-Radar, our retail price tracker, is not open yet. When it opens, its links to retailers will pass through an address on meconomy.ch (/go/) that counts the click, with no IP address and no account number, and forwards you; the Privacy policy says what is counted.

If that changes, the affiliate disclosure will say so before any paid link goes live, paid links will be labelled beside the link, and money will never change the order of the offers.

  • No provider pays for a higher place.
  • Offers are sorted by what they cost you.
  • Any affiliate agreement is disclosed before it starts.
  • You can compare without an account.
